KUALA LUMPUR – With warmth and pride, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took a moment to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Malaysia’s youth as the 2024 SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) results were announced on Thursday, April 24.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Anwar congratulated the students who excelled, calling their success a testament to their hard work, discipline, and the unwavering support of their families and teachers. He expressed hope that these young Malaysians would continue to carry their spirit of perseverance as they step into the next chapter of their educational journey.
“To all our bright students who performed exceptionally – your achievement is something to be proud of, but let it also be a stepping stone. The path of knowledge never ends. Keep moving forward,” Anwar shared.
But his message wasn’t just for the high scorers. Anwar also reached out to those who may have fallen short of expectations, offering words of encouragement that many needed to hear.
“Don’t give up. This is not the end. There are many ways to succeed in life. Whether through university, skills training, or alternative education, your journey is still unfolding,” he said, assuring them that every effort counts.
He emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to uplifting Malaysia’s youth, highlighting efforts to strengthen higher education and expand access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). These efforts, Anwar said, are part of the Madani government’s mission to build a more inclusive and future-ready society.
This year’s SPM results were the best in over a decade. The National Average Grade (GPK) improved significantly to 4.49, compared to 4.60 in 2023. Notably, 14,179 candidates, or 3.7%, earned straight A’s (A+, A, and A-), a leap from 11,713 in the previous year.
As the nation applauds its young achievers, Anwar’s message rings clear: success takes many forms, and every student matters.
