Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reaffirmed on Wednesday that the peace Jammu & Kashmir is experiencing today is built on deep sacrifice, timeless values, and a commitment to dialogue and dignity.

Speaking at the International Symposium on Peace, People and Possibilities in J&K at SKICC, Srinagar, the LG emphasized that peace flourishes when communities embrace mutual respect, humanity, and meaningful conversation. He noted that the vision for J&K’s future lies in its people — where the whispers of Chinar trees and the calm waters of Dal Lake reflect unity, resilience, and renewal.

“Peace means every individual living freely, by choice, without fear or loss,” he said, adding that the everyday Kashmiri is contributing to this progress through dedication and collective effort.

The LG credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for turning “impossible into possible” in the region, pointing out that where unrest once echoed, children’s laughter and the sound of classrooms now prevail. Over the past several years, he added, development and stability have replaced decades of uncertainty, transforming roads, schools, and farmlands into symbols of prosperity.

Calling peace a shared responsibility, Sinha urged citizens to honor the sacrifices of soldiers, police personnel, and civilians by safeguarding harmony. “Peace must be protected by every citizen,” he stated. “Their memory must guide us.”

He stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law and embracing cooperation, compassion, and brotherhood. He also appealed to the youth to reject radicalization and drugs, cautioning against influences aligned with Pakistan-backed narratives.

Recalling the unity witnessed after the Pulwama attack, the LG said that spirit must continue — a collective resolve that ensures Jammu & Kashmir remains strong, peaceful, and united.
