In a vibrant celebration of endurance, unity, and pride, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today felicitated the victorious athletes of the Kashmir Marathon 2025 at Srinagar. The prestigious event, organized by the J&K Tourism Department, brought together 1100 runners from 27 states, Union Territories, and 11 countries, making it a truly global sporting spectacle in the heart of Kashmir.

The marathon featured both Full (42 km) and Half (21 km) races, drawing enthusiastic participation from seasoned runners and emerging athletes alike. The breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir served as the perfect backdrop to this dynamic international competition.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor applauded the participants, highlighting how their energy and passion reflect the spirit of unity and brotherhood that sports inspire.

“In just two years, the Kashmir Marathon has earned its place as one of the most prestigious running events in the country. It has ignited passion and pride among our people, inspiring a new wave of fitness and sports culture. I am confident this marathon will continue to attract global participation and become a powerful economic driver for tourism in Kashmir,” he remarked.

He further welcomed international runners, emphasizing how far Jammu & Kashmir has progressed since 2019.

“Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, we are witnessing a historic transformation in Jammu & Kashmir. Our land—rich in heritage, culture, and the ageless ethos of harmony—is embracing growth rooted in spirituality and modernity,” the LG said.

Encouraging the people of J&K, he called on them to leverage this world-class platform to showcase Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage, arts, crafts, handloom legacy, and tourism potential before a global audience.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of senior civil and police officials, and special attendance by Bollywood star Suniel Shetty, along with sports icons and enthusiastic youth supporters who cheered for the winners.
