KUALA LUMPUR – In preparation for the 47th ASEAN Summit 2025, happening from October 26 to 28, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has announced a series of traffic diversions that will affect several key routes across the Klang Valley between October 17 and 29.
According to Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, the diversions will take place on six major highways and 25 primary roads, as the country prepares to host high-profile leaders and delegates.
The highways involved include the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), Guthrie Corridor Expressway, North-South Expressway, MEX Highway, and KL-Seremban Expressway.
Meanwhile, within the city, several key roads such as Lebuh KLIA, Putrajaya Ring Road, Jalan Istana, Jalan Damansara, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Parlimen, and Jalan Kuching will experience traffic management adjustments.
To ensure smooth coordination and safety, 1,111 traffic officers and personnel will be on duty during this period to assist with VIP escorts, traffic control, and enforcement of road regulations.
A full-scale motorcade rehearsal will also be conducted from October 17 to 24, covering routes from KLIA’s Bunga Raya Complex and the Subang Air Base to major hotels, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), and Seri Negara.
Motorists are advised to plan their travel ahead, use public transport options such as MRT, LRT, monorail, or RapidKL buses, and avoid affected routes whenever possible.
Those on official duty, including media personnel and healthcare workers, will be allowed access with valid passes. However, if VIP convoys are passing through, traffic will be temporarily halted regardless of pass status for security reasons.
The 47th ASEAN Summit represents the culmination of Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN 2025, under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability.” Dignitaries expected to attend include U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
As Malaysia steps onto the global stage once again, this event stands as a moment of pride — not just for leaders, but for every Malaysian who plays a role in keeping the nation running smoothly. Behind every traffic officer, every journalist, and every citizen adjusting their routine, lies the spirit of unity and progress that defines the heart of ASEAN.
