New Delhi – As tensions between Israel and Iran continue to rise, concern for the safety of Indian nationals in the region has prompted decisive action. In a deeply human move, the Indian government, through its Embassy in Tehran, has relocated Indian students from the Iranian capital to safer areas. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed this development on Tuesday.
Understanding the emotional weight of the situation, especially for families back home, the MEA reassured that the Indian Embassy remains in constant contact with the Indian community in Iran. Every possible measure is being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals during these unsettling times.
“Our students have been moved out of Tehran for their safety. The arrangements were carefully coordinated by the Embassy,” said the MEA in an official statement.
Beyond the students, Indian residents in Tehran who are able to make their own transport arrangements have been advised to leave the city. Some have also been helped to exit Iran via its border with Armenia, according to the ministry.
Recognizing the urgency, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has been actively sharing advisories through social media. In a recent post, the embassy urged: “All Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin who can safely move out of Tehran are advised to do so using their own resources.”
To support this critical effort, the MEA has set up a 24×7 control room in New Delhi. This helpline is designed to provide real-time assistance and information to families and individuals in need.
