Israel revises advisory asking its nationals to ‘leave immediately’ Kashmir region

Jerusalem, May 8 – As tensions soar once again between India and Pakistan, the Israeli government has revised its travel advisory, urging its citizens in the Kashmir region to leave without delay.

The update comes in the wake of a fresh wave of cross-border violence that has reignited long-standing hostilities. Earlier today, the Indian military launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine suspected terror sites in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab province, in retaliation for the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry, expressing deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating security situation, stressed that its citizens must avoid the Jammu and Kashmir region altogether—with the exception of Ladakh, which remains unaffected. “We urge all Israelis currently in Kashmir to leave immediately and follow the directions of local authorities,” the ministry said in a statement, aligning with its National Security Council’s standing advisory.

The situation on the ground is grim. Pakistan’s army responded with what is being described as one of the heaviest artillery and mortar attacks in recent years. The shelling targeted civilian villages along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 13 people—including four children and a soldier—and injuring 57 more.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has claimed that the Indian missile strikes killed 31 people and injured dozens more, further inflaming tensions.

For Israelis in the region, the message is clear: safety must come first. With the potential for further escalation, the Israeli government is taking no chances in protecting its citizens abroad.
