SRINAGAR – In a heartfelt gesture aimed at comforting grieving families, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced an ex-gratia relief of ₹10 lakh for each family that has lost a loved one in the recent cross-border shelling by Pakistan.
The announcement, made through the official channel of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), goes beyond numbers—it’s a message of solidarity in the face of tragedy. “No amount of money can ever fill the void left by a loved one. But in this moment of shared grief, we hope this gesture offers a small measure of comfort,” the party said on social media platform X.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, including children, civilians, and even a senior administrative officer, Raj Kumar Thappa. “We are devastated by the senseless violence that has shattered lives along our borders. My heart goes out to every family mourning a loss. We stand with you—not just in words, but in action,” he said.
