In a heartfelt move to deepen its commitment to peace, governance, and global cooperation, Singapore is set to launch two meaningful initiatives in 2026 aimed at empowering the Palestinian Authority (PA) on their journey toward statehood.

One of the flagship initiatives is a Young Leaders’ Programme, crafted to nurture emerging Palestinian leaders by sharing Singapore’s rich experience in governance and public administration. This initiative isn’t just about training—it’s about building bridges and inspiring a generation of changemakers who will shape the future of their people.

The second initiative, equally impactful, is a joint training programme with Japan. It will focus on enhancing the skills of the Palestinian Civil Police in community policing—a key pillar in building trust, ensuring safety, and fostering resilient communities.

“These initiatives build on Singapore’s longstanding support for the PA’s capacity-building efforts and institutional development, as the Palestinian people prepare for statehood,” shared Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan in a Facebook post.

Speaking from Kuala Lumpur, where he’s attending the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Dr. Balakrishnan made the announcement during the 4th Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) Ministerial Meeting.

On the sidelines, he held a warm and constructive discussion with Dr. Estephan Salameh, the PA’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation. “I invited him to visit Singapore,” Balakrishnan added, reflecting Singapore’s open-door policy and enduring commitment to inclusive diplomacy.

Singapore continues to demonstrate that its support is not just policy—but personal. Through its Enhanced Technical Assistance Package, the nation reaffirms its promise to walk alongside the Palestinian Authority in their journey of administration, development, and hope.
