KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 — For thousands of students across Malaysia, today marks more than just a result day — it’s a celebration of perseverance, dreams, and an unforgettable journey. The SPM 2024 results are in, and they tell a story of resilience and rising excellence, with the best performance recorded since 2013.

Education director-general Datuk Azman Adnan announced that the National Average Grade (GPN) has improved to 4.49, compared to 4.60 last year — a clear sign that our students are not just keeping up, but soaring beyond expectations. A lower GPN score indicates better academic performance, making this year’s achievement especially meaningful.

“This is the best we’ve seen since 2013,” said Azman in a press conference in Putrajaya — a moment that will surely be remembered by students, parents, and educators alike.

Out of 402,956 candidates, a staggering 94% (355,933 students) qualified for their SPM certificate. And among them, a remarkable 14,179 students achieved straight As — a jump from last year’s 3.1% to 3.7% this year. These numbers are more than statistics; they are a testament to late nights, endless revisions, and the unwavering support of families and teachers.

Encouragingly, the gap between urban and rural student performance has also narrowed. Urban candidates averaged a GPN of 4.47, while their rural counterparts scored 4.92 — showing that effort and determination know no boundaries.

For those eagerly waiting, results can be collected from schools and state education departments starting at 10am. Private candidates can do the same or check online at myresultspm.moe.gov.my or by SMS (type SPM and send to 15888).

To every student who gave their all — today is your day. Whether you scored straight As or pushed through challenges to pass, be proud. This is only the beginning of your story.
