No Malaysians Reported Injured in Kashmir Attack, Wisma Putra Assures

KUALA LUMPUR: In the wake of a tragic attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the Foreign Ministry has reassured the public that no Malaysians have been reported hurt. The ministry has been closely monitoring the situation through Malaysia’s High Commission in New Delhi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday (April 23), Wisma Putra confirmed that the attack, which took place on Tuesday (April 22), had impacted several individuals, including foreign tourists. Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination, is known to attract many Malaysian visitors.

“We have been in regular contact with the group leaders of Malaysian tourist agencies currently in Kashmir. They have reported that their groups are safe,” the statement read.

The attack, which involved unknown gunmen opening fire on tourists in Pahalgam, left at least 26 people dead, with most victims being Indian nationals. Authorities have described the assault as one of the most devastating in recent memory, although the full details of the victims’ identities have yet to be disclosed.

Despite the tragedy, Wisma Putra reassured Malaysians that no nationals had been affected by the incident. The Foreign Ministry continues to work closely with local authorities to ensure the safety of all Malaysians in the region.

As the situation unfolds, Malaysians in Kashmir are urged to stay alert, follow the advice of local authorities, and take all necessary precautions.

Wisma Putra also advised against non-essential travel to the area and promised to provide further updates as needed.
