Saudi Arabia’s defence authorities announced that two cruise missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed over an area south of the capital, Riyadh, in what officials described as a swift and coordinated response to an aerial threat.
According to a statement released by the defence ministry, the missiles were brought down over the Al-Kharj district before they could reach their intended targets. In a separate development, state media reported that nine drones attempting to enter Saudi airspace were also intercepted and destroyed. The Saudi Press Agency, citing an official spokesperson from the ministry, stated that the drones were eliminated as soon as they crossed into the Kingdom’s airspace.
Authorities have not yet identified who may have been responsible for the attempted attacks. No injuries or damage have been reported so far.
